FAQ

Things You Need To Know About Our Plans

Important information regarding our plans

Plan inclusions, prices and promotional offers advertised may not be available at all addresses. The service qualification address check is only a preliminary result of plans and prices available in your area. Please note that the result may vary, together with plans, prices and promotions available at your address, as we process your order and connection.

The First 6-month Discount Promotional Pricing Offer is only available to new Exetel residential nbn™ customers for a limited time. The discounted amount will appear as a credit on your Exetel invoice. You must stay on your purchased plan for the first 6 months to maintain your discount price. Should you change plans within the first 6 months your discount credit will be lost.

A speed tier speed is the theoretical maximum speed of the access line connecting your premises to the nbn™. The actual speeds you experience, particularly during busy periods, may be limited by demand in other parts of the network and will typically be much slower.

Typical Evening Speed is the average speed experienced by a representative group of users between the hours of 7pm and 11pm. It is not a guaranteed minimum speed and past performance is not an indication of expected future speed. The actual speed you will experience depends on many factors such as your access technology, the total demand on the network, local internet traffic and your physical line condition.

Superfast and Lightspeed nbn™ speeds are only available at FTTP and limited HFC connected addresses. Download speed performance on these speed tiers will vary significantly depending on time of day. Typical Evening Speed should be used as a guide to likely performance, however as these plans are newly launched we have insufficient data to accurately calculate their Typical Evening Speeds in-field. As we gather more performance data we will quickly replace our estimate of speed performance of these services with in-field data.

Not all FTTN, FTTB or FTTC access lines support speed tiers above nbn12. We can't confirm your maximum access line speed until after your service has been installed. Once your service is installed and activated, your maximum access line speed will be tested. If your line will not support your chosen speed tier we will inform you and to offer move you to a lower speed tier and refund any extra money you have paid for the higher speed tier.

A payment verification charge of $1 may be debited to your account at the time of sale. This will be credited back to you on your first invoice. You can also organise to pay by Direct Debit to avoid the 1% Credit Card surcharge.

Where advertised as such, the broadband activation fee only is free. Depending on the service ordered, there may be additional up-front charges which are not free and will be charged as per our Terms of Use. These charges include, but are not limited to, charges such as Phone Line Activation Fee or Copper Line Installation Charges, Lead-in or Additional Cabling, Equipment Charges such as Modems, Routers or Splitters, Missed Appointment Fees or any complex on site work required to provide a functional broadband service.

You may cancel your service at any time by giving Exetel thirty days’ notice (including if you do not wish to continue to use your service during the notice period).

Scam activity is on the rise in Australia. Scammers are using a wider array of methods, techniques, and communication avenues to reach unsuspecting victims. They are also becoming more refined at impersonating legitimate government departments, businesses, and organisations to attempt to gain access to your money and personal information.

Whether you're downloading or uploading, as you use your data we count each session in kilobytes (1,024 bytes). This means you get more usage out of your total data plan each month than if we counted in megabytes. That means your data goes further.

Each Exetel mobile plan comes with a monthly allowance of measured in gigabytes, which is 1,024 megabytes.

If you do happen to exceed your monthly data allowance and your Data Bank is empty, Exetel will automatically block your data usage. If you want your data to keep flowing, you can either purchase a 1GB or 5GB Data Add-on, or you can recharge (or upgrade) your plan early and get another plan allowance for another 30 days.

Recharging when you run out of data can be done manually when you want to recharge or you can set it to be done Automatically to save you the hassle, the choice is yours.

No lock-in means you can cancel your mobile service at any time.

A payment verification charge of $1 may be debited to your account at the time of sale. This will be credited back to you on your first invoice. You can also organise to pay by Direct Debit to avoid the 1% Credit Card surcharge.

ExeSIM Extra-Value and Plus plans come with an included unlimited allowance of international calls and standard SMS made from Australia to overseas fixed and mobile numbers to 15 Countries. These countries are:

- Bangladesh, Canada, China, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, UK and USA.

If your plan does not have this feature, or you wish to call other countries not included in your unlimited call allowance, you can purchase an International Call Add-on within the My Exetel portal or app.

At the end of each pre-paid voice plan validity period (30 days), any unused data will be credited to the Data Bank. There is a 500GB maximum upper capacity limit for the Data Bank. Any attempts to credit data to the Data Bank that has a balance of 200GB will fail. If you downgrade your ExeSim pre-paid voice plan, the Data Bank balance will be lost/forfeited and reset to zero. In a downgrade scenario, unused plan or Add-on data will be credited to the new Data Bank balance after reset to zero

When you use the data service associated with your pre-paid mobile voice service, the data usage/consumption priority is as follows:

- 1GB Data Add-on
- 5GB Data Add-on
- 1st Recharge Bonus Data
- Gifted Data
- Campaign Data Allowance
- Included Plan Data Allowance
- Data Bank

When different Data Add-ons are applied to the plan, the Data Add-on with the earlier expiry will be consumed first. If the Data Add-ons have the same expiry, then the consumed priority is as above
